Recent reports claim Apple is designing a small wearable device that fastens to clothing or hangs around the neck. The unannounced pendant would link to Siri and appears to borrow ideas from Humane's Ai Pin but it is described as a simpler fashion item rather than a full computer.
People briefed on the plan state the pendant would carry a camera for visual tasks and a microphone for Siri commands. A speaker for two way talk with Siri is under review but it is not but final. The main difference from Humane's pin is dependence - Apple's unit would lean on the iPhone for almost every heavy operation.
By design, the pendant would not try to replace the phone - internal documents place its processor near the level of the AirPods chip - demanding software would run on the paired handset. Outsourcing this work should lower heat and cost, two problems that hurt Humane's launch.
The same sources mention parallel work on Apple smart glasses. Each pair is expected to hold two cameras - one for recognizing surroundings, one for photos or videos - along with speakers and microphones. Users would place calls, play music or capture media through voice commands to Siri. Additional software may read text aloud or give walking directions. The feature set echoes Meta's Ray Bon smart glasses, though Apple's tighter link to the iPhone could yield smoother operation.
Both products remain in early research - the pendant could still be canceled, while the glasses stand a higher chance of reaching stores. Until Apple confirms either project, the designs serve mainly as updated takes on existing wearables, shaped by Apple's hardware style and ecosystem lock in.
