Talk spreads that Apple is close to showing the first foldable iPhone. New parts lists point to a bigger battery and buttons that sit in a different place. The moves look aimed at the two problems buyers complain about most in today's foldable phones - short battery life and clumsy controls.
Posts from Chinese social networks, later quoted by tech sites, say Apple has built test units that hold a 5,500 mAh pack. That number beats the 5,088 mAh pack now planned for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The extra capacity is meant to feed the larger screen that unfolds to tablet size. Several early foldable models from rival firms run flat after a workday - Apple appears ready to advertise longer runtime as a clear edge.
Different part diagrams show the volume keys moving upward on the right edge. When the phone opens into a wide slate, the new spot should fall closer to the user's thumb. Blueprints also list a stiffer hinge, a lighter frame and new camera sensors. Full specs have not leaked but the combined shifts show Apple wants a device that feels solid but also sits well in the hand while open or shut.
