The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is gearing up for a spectacular display of automotive innovation, with Chinese startup Kosmera set to unveil not one, but two new vehicles. Among them is a highly anticipated "new energy hypercar" promising staggering performance figures and cutting-edge technology, alongside a sleek sedan.
Kosmera has released teaser images hinting at a hypercar that aims to "blend classic supercar heritage with next-generation technology." The design appears to draw inspiration from iconic brands, featuring a prominent grille, curvaceous fenders, and a sloping roofline complemented by a substantial rear spoiler. While specific details are scarce, the company has revealed that the hypercar's powertrain will deliver a combined output of up to an astonishing 1,877 horsepower (1,400 kW / 1,903 PS). This is achieved through a high-performance setup that produces approximately 469 hp per wheel.
The automaker claims the hypercar will boast a near 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, facilitated by a high-tech chassis constructed from "aerospace-grade composites" and 3D-printed metals. This construction is intended to provide exceptional torsional stiffness. Inside, drivers can expect an AI Coach system designed to enhance track performance, utilizing an augmented reality heads-up display to show the ideal racing line. Furthermore, the vehicle is slated to feature a "revolutionary active linear motor suspension system" capable of seamlessly transitioning between a comfortable ride and a rigid, race-ready setup. A unique "dual-steering-wheel unlock mechanism" is also mentioned, suggesting further adaptability.
It's important to note that the vehicles showcased at CES will be prototypes and static display models. Their primary purpose is to demonstrate Kosmera's design capabilities and technological ambitions within the premium automotive segment. The company has not yet disclosed any production plans or confirmed availability for either the hypercar or the accompanying sedan. Adding to the uncertainty, the Kosmera brand name has been trademarked in China by Xing Chen Future Automotive Technology Co Ltd., suggesting that U.S. consumers are unlikely to see these vehicles on the road, with CES being the closest they may get to experiencing them.
