The latest Suzuki Across, launched for the Seychelles market in 2025, is a compact SUV built on Suzuki’s Heartect platform. Unlike the previous Across, which was a rebadged Toyota RAV4 for Europe, this new Across is essentially a left-hand-drive version of the Indian-market Maruti Suzuki Victoris. These fundamental changes mark Suzuki’s move away from its Toyota partnership for this specific model, bringing an in-house designed SUV to new global markets.
The new Across measures 4,360 mm in length, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase—making it noticeably smaller than the RAV4-based predecessor. The Seychelles version is available with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 102 horsepower and 137 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, with an optional four-wheel-drive system.
A hybrid version, seen with a badge in official images, is expected soon. This setup pairs the same 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor for 114 horsepower combined output. The hybrid will feature Suzuki’s AllGrip Select AWD system, offering self-charging hybrid technology for improved fuel efficiency.
The Suzuki Across takes design cues from the Victoris, sharing its bodywork and layout, with minor changes like branding adjustments and a left-hand-drive cabin configuration. The SUV’s compact dimensions make it well-suited for urban and suburban driving. The vehicle’s Heartect platform, also used in the Vitara and S-Cross, implies a focus on rigidity, safety, and light weight, contributing to handling and fuel efficiency.
The new Across enters the compact SUV segment, where value and versatility are major selling points. As Suzuki plans to export the Victoris-based Across to over 100 countries, the model is expected to compete with affordable SUVs such as the Dacia Bigster. Its reduced size, expected lower price, and the inclusion of hybrid technology align with growing consumer demand for cost-effective, fuel-efficient vehicles. Unlike the earlier RAV4-based Across, this version emphasizes affordability and practicality over high-end features or large dimensions.
Conclusion:
The 2025 Suzuki Across repositions itself as a practical, efficient, and affordable compact SUV suitable for a wide range of markets. By breaking from Toyota, Suzuki presents a truly global small SUV, tailored for buyers seeking value and new technology in a manageable package.
