Bentley has laid out its next cars and confirmed it will sell multiple kinds of engines. The firm will build a fast petrol coupe plus its first fully electric model, each aimed at the same wealthy buyers.
The Continental GT Supersports badge returns. Bentley CEO Frank Steffen-Walliser says the car is “a true driver's machine.” Only a small number will be built - every one sends power only to the rear wheels. The body uses light panels - a petrol V8 provides the thrust. Steffen- Walliser calls the result “pure excitement.” Just three earlier GTs wore the Supersports name - the fourth keeps the badge rare. The world premiere is set for 14 November.
Meanwhile the first Bentley EV stays in development - it will be a compact luxury SUV, shorter and lower than the Bentayga giving sharper turn in. The skateboard comes from Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Electric - the pack runs at 800 volts so a high speed charger adds roughly 100 miles of range in under seven minutes. Bentley wants the ride of a Flying Spur but also the punch of a GT coupe. Each cabin will use 30 square metres of leather and more than 30,000 hand placed stitches.
The electric SUV debuts next year - buyers receive cars in 2027. Hybrid as well as fully-electric models will run side by side. Bentley will keep plug in hybrids in its main range to at least 2035, while specials like the Supersports stay petrol only. Every car continues to leave the factory in Crewe, U.K.
