Subaru sales in the United States declined this year. Total sales fell 2.6 percent from last year. The rest of the car market grew - the drop stands out. Model-by-model results vary.
In October, Subaru delivered 6.5 percent fewer vehicles than in October of the previous year. The Ascent SUV lost more than a quarter of its year-to-date volume. WRX sales dropped over 41 percent. Only 22 Solterra electric SUVs left dealerships in October, a 98.8 percent plunge, because Subaru is stocking the refreshed 2025 model.
Some models gained ground. Crosstrek set an October record with 16,284 deliveries. Year-to-date Crosstrek volume rose 7.6 percent keeping it Subaru's bestseller. Forester added 1.6 percent for the year.
The Legacy sedan, scheduled for cancellation, delivered the line's largest percentage gain: 15.7 percent for the year.
That percentage looks strong - yet the raw figure is modest. Legacy sales reached 18,864 cars through October. Crosstrek matched that total in October alone. Legacy remains a minor part of Subaru's mix as production ends.
