The Donkervoort P24 RS stands out due to its exclusive production run of only 150 units and its significant shift from Audi to Ford power. Known for building ultra-lightweight, highly focused driving machines, Donkervoort redefines the concept of lightweight performance with this new model. The vehicle’s starting price is €298,500, establishing it as a premium and rare collector’s item.
A major highlight is the switch to Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. Delivered in three power levels—400 hp, 500 hp, and 600 hp—it offers a top torque of 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) for the highest output variant. Weighing just 780 kg (1,719 lbs) dry, the P24 RS benefits from a carbon fiber construction that maximizes the power-to-weight ratio, boasting up to 770 horsepower per tonne. The engine utilizes dry-sump lubrication and advanced fuel injection to enhance both performance and reliability.
Performance is a core focus. The car reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in only 7.4 seconds and has a top speed above 300 km/h (186 mph). Its suspension features active dampers from Tractive and a hydraulically adjustable ride-height system, offering multiple settings for stiffness. With high-performance Nankang CR-S tires, it can achieve up to 2.3G in cornering forces and 1.3G in braking, ensuring exceptional handling and grip, especially on track days.
In keeping with Donkervoort’s philosophy, the interior is minimalist. Matte carbon fiber covers most surfaces, the three-spoke steering wheel is simple, and there is a small digital gauge cluster. There is no built-in infotainment; instead, an iPad Mini mount is provided for navigation and entertainment, allowing drivers to focus on driving. Power steering and anti-lock brakes (ABS) are optional, underscoring the car’s purist, driver-focused approach.
Unlike many modern supercars heavy with technology, the P24 RS cuts weight with manual controls and limited driving aids. It uses a five-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching, a rare sight in today’s era of automatic transmissions. By comparison, rivals often favor heavier construction and automated systems, which can blunt the raw driving feel offered by the Donkervoort.
This car is aimed at seasoned driving enthusiasts seeking a rare and uncompromising sports car. Its low production numbers, combination of American V6 power, and extreme dedication to lightweight construction ensure the P24 RS appeals to collectors and spirited drivers alike, especially those valuing sensation over sheer convenience.
