Internally, the Level Lock Pro houses a motor, a dual-core processor, and radios for both Bluetooth and Thread connectivity. This hardware is engineered to fit entirely within the lock's housing and bolt mechanism. The device is powered by a single CR2 battery, which is situated inside the bolt itself. The manufacturer claims a battery life of up to one year, a significant duration compared to many competitors. However, the company advises against the use of rechargeable CR2 batteries, recommending only standard 3-volt replacements, which presents a long-term operational consideration.

The Level Lock Pro offers multiple methods for operation. For non-smart access, it includes two physical keys and two NFC key fobs. Smart functionality is enabled through several protocols. Direct connection via the Level app uses Bluetooth, which is also required for features like geofenced automatic unlocking and "Touch to Unlock." For broader smart home integration, the lock utilizes Matter over Thread, requiring a compatible Thread border router to connect with platforms like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. The device also supports Apple Home Key, allowing users to unlock the door by holding a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch near the lock.

While the Level Lock Pro excels in discreet design, its feature set presents a notable contrast to other products in its price category. A primary point of differentiation is the absence of integrated biometric authentication or a keypad. Competing models, such as the Aqara U100 or TCL D2 Pro, often include fingerprint scanners, palm scanners, or numerical keypads as standard features, providing phone-free and key-free access methods. The Level Lock Pro's reliance on a smartphone for most of its smart features means that without the phone, access reverts to a physical key or a paired fob. An external keypad is available as a separate $79 purchase, which alters the product's aesthetic and increases its total cost to over $420. Reports indicate that while generally responsive, connectivity can occasionally be sluggish, particularly with Apple Home Key, or become unresponsive on complex networks, necessitating a manual reboot by removing the battery.
