Fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now have a single box that lets them step into the bleak future shown in “The Last Ronin.” The box holds the first graphic novel, its sequel and the prequel series - together they show how the familiar turtles die and how a new group rises. The set once cost $95, but for a short period the price is $60.33 - it works as a holiday gift.
The box gives the complete arc. “The Last Ronin” shows a future where a single turtle lives - he walks through broken New York plus seeks revenge for his dead brothers. The tale explains step by step how the city and the team fell.
“The Last Ronin 2: Re-Evolution” moves the clock forward ten years - a new group of turtles must guard New York while rival armies fight for control. The prequel series “The Lost Years” tells how Casey Marie Jones - daughter of the original Casey Jones - trained the new turtles and shows the days that led to the last turtle's final fight.
If you do not want the box you may buy each book on its own - the total for the three separate books is lower than the price of the box. A companion book titled “The Last Ronin - The Covers” costs $16.27 and prints every variant cover. A “Director's Cut” of the first book sells for $24; it holds early sketches, character sheets and pages from the first draft by Kevin Eastman besides Peter Laird.
This year is the thirty fifth birthday of the first live action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” film. A new print of the movie tie in comic - first scripted by Eastman or Laird - restores the color as well as adds deleted scenes. The 1990 film and its sequels will also appear on 4K Blu-ray with cleaned footage and extra features - preorders are open at $58.
