Arc Raiders Update 1.2.0: Security Breach Perk Nerfed

The latest update for Arc Raiders, version 1.2.0, has arrived on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Developer Embark Studios has rolled out numerous fixes and balance adjustments, but the most significant change is a nerf to one of the game's most powerful perks.

The Nerf Explained

The "Security Breach" perk, a late game unlock in the Survival skill tree, has been adjusted. This perk was highly sought after as it is the only way to open special Security Lockers found in high loot areas. According to Embark Studios, those lockers were "over-providing valuable items," leading to an imbalance. In response to community feedback, the developer has re tuned the rewards from those containers.

Impact on Gameplay

While the loot from Security Lockers is now less potent, the community response has been largely positive. Players who have already unlocked Security Breach report that the perk remains valuable. This change aims to curb loot hoarding and create a more balanced experience for all raiders, whether they have the perk or not.

Other Notable Changes in Update 1.2.0

Beyond the perk nerf, the update addresses multiple other key areas:

Performance: Character movement latency on the server has been reduced to improve "desync" issues where players take damage behind cover.
Bug Fixes: Numerous bugs related to quests, achievements, animations and map terrain have been resolved.
Item Balancing: The value of Wolfpack Grenades besides Launcher Ammo has been increased, while the Spotter Relay's value has been decreased.
XP Adjustments: XP gains for looting certain ARC parts, like those from Bastions or Bombardiers, have been rebalanced.
