A Guide to Dune: Awakening's New Base Backup Tool and Major Updates

Funcom has announced a batch of updates for Dune - Awakening that respond to repeated player requests and add systems meant to remove major annoyances. The first item on the list is the Base Backup Tool, a function that saves every wall, bench, chest plus machine in your base as one portable item.

The Base Backup Tool

The Base Backup Tool arrives in a near future patch. When you activate it, the game writes every placed building piece and almost every stored resource to a single bundle that sits in your personal inventory. If you stop playing for a week or a month, the bundle stays with you - when you log in again you simply open it at a new location but also the base reappears exactly as it was. The same process works if you decide to migrate to another part of the map - pick up the bundle, fly to fresh terrain and redeploy the entire structure without rebuilding from scratch.

Character Transfers and Other Key Updates

The tool ships together with free character transfers as well as planned server mergers, both scheduled to go live within the next few weeks. A transfer moves your character, every item in bags or bank, all learned recipes and every guild association to any destination world and any selected sietch you name.

Extra additions on the way:

Cargo Containers: Portable crates that an ornithopter lifts or drops - they enter the game in December.
Game Balance: Funcom continues numeric passes on skills and weapons - the rapier moves to the front of the rework queue.
Chapter 3: Slated for Q1 2026, this patch turns the Landsraad into a job board PvE framework, widens skill trees also pushes the main plot forward.

With the backup tool and the transfer option in place, you no longer risk losing months of construction work or character growth when real life pulls you away - you return, unpack and resume play right away.
