Nintendo has just shared big news for Zelda fans who still roam the wide world of Tears of the Kingdom. In its latest Direct show, the firm said that a new side game, Hyrule Warriors - Age of Imprisonment, will arrive on November 6, 2025.
The new game digs into the back story laid out in Tears of the Kingdom and tells of the first war against the original Ganondorf. The reveal clip showed fresh play tools - players will use Zonai Devices in battle, just as they do in the main game. The title will let two people play on one screen and an online pair mode will run through the GameShare tool.
The clip also locked in new fighters - the Zonai sage Sonia and a Korok whose name is not yet known. The footage teased new fight tricks, like Sync Strike moves that let two heroes hit as one and hinted at sky fights - one hero steered a flying rig against a Frost Gleeok.
The news leaves longtime fans with a clear question. The last side game, Hyrule Warriors - Age of Calamity, stepped away from the Breath of the Wild time line and told a story that does not count as true lore. No one yet knows if Age of Imprisonment will stick to the facts set down in Tears of the Kingdom or head off on its own. The launch might show that Nintendo plans to keep mining the deep past of Hyrule in games that sit apart from the main series.
