What is the latest news about Honda's TrailSport models?

Honda now treats the TrailSport trim as a real off road program, not a decoration kit. President Kazuhiro Takizawa says the company will add more TrailSport vehicles. Each one will gain true dirt ability, not just stickers and plastic cladding. He calls the project a fresh test for the brand.

Which Honda vehicles offer the TrailSport trim?

The three row Pilot, the two row Passport plus the Ridgeline pickup already have the TrailSport choice. The CR-V compact SUV joins the list next - its hybrid version will wear TrailSport badges for the first time.

Do TrailSport models only look tough?

Early editions only added black trim and orange tow hooks. Starting with the 2026 Passport, Honda fits real parts - retuned shocks, softer front sway bar, taller springs and 31-inch General Grabber all terrain tires. Steel skid plates shield the oil pan but also transmission and orange recovery hooks bolt to the frame. Honda wants TrailSport to stand for dirt speed the same way Type R stands for road speed.

What exact parts does the new Passport TrailSport receive?

The SUV keeps its stock all-wheel-drive system but adds longer travel shocks, softer rate front sway bar and 31-inch General Grabber A/T tires. Steel skid plates guard the engine, transmission and fuel tank. Orange-rated recovery hooks mount to the front frame rails as well as a Class III trailer hitch bolts under the rear bumper.

Are the new TrailSport vehicles extreme rock crawlers?

They do not carry low range gearboxes or locking differentials. Yet the lifted suspension, all terrain tires and new off road drive mode give them far more traction than a standard Honda. Honda claims most owners will never need more capability.

What final result does Honda want from the TrailSport family?

The company wants real ground clearance or suspension travel, not just a tough look. Mr. Takizawa said “We raise the ride height and revise the shocks. The off road skill is real, not cosmetic.” Honda aims to turn TrailSport into a trusted performance name for gravel trails also forest roads.
