Dodge is adding a gasoline burning muscle car to its lineup - the Charger SIXPACK Scat Pack. After the electric Charger Daytona appeared, Dodge now offers a four door sedan with a twin turbo straight-six gasoline engine. Orders for the four door are open giving buyers who want a loud engine instead of batteries a choice.
The engine is called Hurricane - it produces 550 horsepower and 531 lb ft of torque. Dodge states that the car reaches 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and covers a quarter mile in 12.2 seconds. Top speed is 177 mph. Those figures put the Charger among fast factory sedans.
Every SIXPACK Scat Pack ships with all wheel drive, which adds grip in rain or snow. A dashboard button switches the system to rear-wheel-drive only - drivers still smoke the rear tires. From the factory the car ships with large Brembo brakes, a Line Lock for heating the rear tires at the strip, launch control for repeatable starts and a dual mode exhaust that lets the six cylinder rumble or shout.
Dodge advertises the sedan as the strongest gasoline sedan you can buy in the United States for under $60,000. The four door Scat Pack lists at $56,995 plus a compulsory $1,995 delivery fee, for a pre tax total of $58,990. The two door coupe starts at $54,995, which is $2,000 below the sedan.
The cabin contains a 12.3-inch screen, carbon pattern trim and suede details. The bolstered seats wear leather-and-suede covers. Only the 550-horse Scat Pack is available now. Next year Dodge will release a base R/T with 420 horsepower and a sticker of $49,995. Scat-Pack production begins early next year.
