MotorTrend has concluded its yearlong review of the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV RS RWD, awarding it an impressive 8.4 out of 10. Despite initial concerns about reliability following a production pause, the electric SUV proved to be a dependable daily driver, impressing with its performance, comfortable interior, and useful features.
During its year with the MotorTrend fleet, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV RS RWD demonstrated remarkable reliability, with no significant issues arising beyond a single recall for the rear parking brake wiring harness. The Google-built infotainment system remained stable throughout the testing period. Performance was a highlight, with the rear-wheel-drive RS model delivering brisk acceleration, achieving 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds thanks to its 365 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Passing maneuvers were effortless, showcasing its potent electric motor.
The Blazer EV's interior, particularly the Adrenaline Red cabin, was a hit, described as the "life of the party" with its fun synthetic Evotex trim and perforated suede seating inserts offering front-row ventilation. The compliant suspension made for a comfortable ride on highways, and the generous second row provided ample space for passengers. The 102-kWh battery pack offered substantial range, with real-world testing yielding around 275 miles on a full charge, falling short of the EPA's 334-mile estimate but still practical for most journeys.
Clever design elements enhanced the ownership experience. The Blazer EV offered abundant storage solutions, including dual center console bins and an underfloor cargo hold. The wireless charging pad and a convenient shelf for phones charging via USB-C ports were frequently used. The rearview mirror camera system proved useful for visibility, especially when the cabin and cargo area were full, though the close-up view could sometimes give a misleading impression of following distance.
At an as-tested price of $59,200, the Blazer EV RS RWD was deemed exceedingly well-equipped. Features like a heated steering wheel, heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, and a head-up display contributed to a premium feel. MotorTrend concluded that the Blazer EV, with its blend of performance, comfort, and technology, successfully positions Chevrolet for the future of electric vehicles.
