BMW inadvertently offered a sneak peek at its upcoming 2027 model year vehicles through its U.S. website. The automaker quickly removed the information, but not before details of several new and updated models, including performance enhancements for the M2 and new electric variants, were captured. This accidental leak suggests a busy product cycle for BMW in the near future.
One of the most significant revelations from the leaked information is the anticipated arrival of an xDrive all-wheel-drive system for the 2027 BMW M2. This performance upgrade is expected to be paired with an M-tuned automatic transmission, potentially increasing the base price by approximately $5,000.
The leak also provided insights into the 2027 3-Series sedan lineup. The M340i xDrive, which is concluding with the current G20 chassis, will be succeeded by the M350i xDrive on the all-new G50 platform. Furthermore, the electric i3 sedan is slated to be offered in 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive configurations. Its SUV counterpart, the iX3, will feature 40 sDrive (rear-wheel drive), 40 xDrive, and 50 xDrive variants.
Details regarding larger models also emerged, including the BMW iX4, X5, and iX5 SUVs, as well as the 7 Series. The iX4 is expected to come in 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive versions. The X5 will reportedly include a 40 sDrive model, while the iX5 is set to offer a 60 xDrive variant. The 2027 740i xDrive was also among the prematurely revealed models.
BMW has declined to comment on future product availability, stating, "As a matter of policy, we do not comment on future product availability." Despite the official silence, the accidental leak points towards a significant year for BMW's model introductions.
