Jeep is reigniting enthusiasm for its iconic Wrangler with the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392, a special edition that brings the thunderous V-8 engine back to the lineup at a significantly reduced price point. This move is part of Jeep's strategy to introduce 12 special-edition Wrangler models this year, aiming to maintain consumer interest before the next-generation model arrives.
The Jeep Wrangler 392, once considered a masterpiece and even a "Final Edition," is making a comeback for 2026. This iteration, the Willys 392, aims to democratize the V-8 experience by lowering the entry cost by thousands of dollars. For $71,990, buyers can now get behind the wheel of a Wrangler equipped with the potent 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, delivering an impressive 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The Willys 392 isn't just about raw power; it's also equipped to tackle challenging terrains. It comes standard with 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires mounted on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, providing 11.1 inches of ground clearance. Additional off-road hardware includes a full-time transfer case, an electronic locking rear differential, heavy-duty Dana 44 axles, and rock rails. A distinctive cold-air intake hood, complete with a water separator, adds to its aggressive stance and functionality.
Inside, the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 distinguishes itself from base models with a host of premium amenities. Occupants will find power-operated and heated Nappa leather seats, an Alpine nine-speaker sound system, and a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display. A Trailer Tow package is also included, enhancing the vehicle's versatility.
While the 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds is impressive for a Wrangler, the true appeal of the 392 lies in its exhilarating V-8 soundtrack. However, potential buyers should be aware of the fuel economy, with an EPA-rated 13 mpg in the city. The driving range is also a consideration, offering approximately 301 miles on a full tank, which is less than the V-6 or turbo-four variants. Despite these trade-offs, the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 represents a compelling option for enthusiasts seeking the unique thrill of a V-8-powered Jeep.
Orders for the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 are set to open in March.
