Porsche is putting the finishing touches on a significantly updated version of its most extreme 911, the GT3 RS. Spied undergoing cold-weather testing, the facelifted model boasts a more aggressive front end and a revised aerodynamic package, hinting at even greater track performance.
The latest spy shots reveal a more aggressive front bumper with pronounced air intakes on the facelifted 911 GT3 RS. The hood has also been redesigned, featuring what appear to be optimized vents. Headlights have received a subtle update, with the daytime running lights now connected by an illuminated circular strip, offering a distinctive new look.
Moving towards the rear, the familiar front fender vents and roof fins remain. The rear end, however, showcases a new wing design with three distinct strips, replacing the previous two. Below the wing, a new mid-mounted vent is visible above the license plate recess, suggesting a redesigned rear bumper, currently concealed by disguise. A new diffuser and a center-mounted dual exhaust system are also apparent, with the diffuser featuring intriguing exhaust-like cutouts on its outer edges.
While interior details were not captured, it's anticipated that the updated GT3 RS will receive enhancements mirroring those found in the facelifted 911 Turbo S. This could include an upgraded infotainment system with faster response times and support for third-party applications, along with potential trim and upholstery revisions.
Under the hood, Porsche has remained tight-lipped about powertrain changes. Rumors of a potential turbocharged engine have surfaced, which would represent a significant departure from the GT3 RS's naturally-aspirated heritage, typically reserved for the GT2 RS. However, given Porsche's recent branding strategies, such a move, while unconventional, cannot be entirely ruled out, though it remains a long shot.
The current 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine producing 518 horsepower and 342 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed PDK transmission. This setup allows for a 0-60 mph sprint in three seconds and a top speed of 184 mph.
