Motorola has officially set the stage for its next generation of foldable smartphones, confirming an April 29 launch date for the Razr (2026) series. The announcement came via a short teaser video that also provided a glimpse into new color options and materials for the upcoming devices.
The company's latest promotional video, released on its global social media channels, focuses heavily on the design evolution of the Razr lineup. The teaser showcases several new colorways, including a distinctive purple quilted finish, a textured black fabric model, and a green variant. These new options suggest a continued focus on combining technology with fashion-forward design elements.
Interestingly, the global version of the teaser included shots of a red Motorola Edge device, though a subsequent US-specific version of the video omitted these scenes. This indicates that certain models or color options may be exclusive to specific international markets. The primary confirmation from the video remains the April 29 announcement date, which is expected to be the start of the pre-order period, with public sales reportedly beginning on May 21.
Prior to this official confirmation, the Razr (2026) series had already been displayed at CES 2026, and numerous leaks have surfaced since. These leaks have suggested notable changes, particularly for the high-end Razr Ultra model, which is rumored to feature a larger profile compared to its predecessors.
In terms of pricing, industry reports point towards a potential increase. The standard Razr (2026) model is speculated to launch at a starting price of $799, while the more premium Razr Ultra could command a price as high as $1,499. While these figures remain unconfirmed, they provide a baseline for what consumers might expect. The official announcement on April 29 will be crucial in verifying these specifications, final pricing, and the full range of features for the new foldable phones.
