Lamborghini is already expanding its new Temerario lineup, with a convertible version of the V8 plug-in hybrid supercar recently spotted testing. This open-top variant, expected to be named the Temerario Spyder, will replace the beloved Huracán Spyder and promises to deliver the same exhilarating performance in a new, wind-in-your-hair package.

Key Takeaways

A Convertible Future

Just months after the coupe version of the Lamborghini Temerario was introduced and began deliveries, a prototype of its Spyder variant has been captured undergoing rigorous testing at the Nürburgring. This sighting confirms that Lamborghini is swiftly moving forward with plans to offer a convertible option for its latest V8 supercar, which has already garnered significant customer interest with a year-long order backlog.

Design Evolution

While camouflaged, the Temerario Spyder prototype shares much of its styling with the coupe. However, subtle differences are apparent. The retractable roof mechanism appears to forgo the coupe's double-bubble design, and the rear window seems to be significantly smaller. Revised buttresses connected by a new front support, along with restyled engine vents, also distinguish the roadster. It's anticipated that the roof operation will mirror its predecessor, allowing for deployment or retraction in approximately 17 seconds via a button press.

Powertrain and Performance

Underneath the skin, the Temerario Spyder will retain the potent plug-in hybrid powertrain found in the coupe. This system combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with three electric motors, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 3.8 kWh battery pack. This configuration delivers a formidable combined output of 907 hp and 730 Nm of torque. Such power enables the coupe to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 2.7 seconds, with a top speed reaching 343 km/h (213 mph). These impressive figures are expected to carry over to the Spyder.

Interior Appointments

The interior is expected to largely mirror the coupe's sophisticated design, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch infotainment system, and a 9.1-inch passenger display. Minor adjustments, such as roadster-specific switchgear, may be implemented to enhance the open-top driving experience.
