On Friday, September 19, 2025, the first iPhone 17 boxes, among them the brand new iPhone Air, reached buyers in Australia besides New Zealand.

The day signals the public debut of four phones - iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air. People who reserved AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 or Apple Watch SE 3 also received those items. Because the clocks in Australia or New Zealand run ahead of the rest of the world, those countries get the hardware first. Australia also offers the first chance to walk into a shop and leave with a device - New Zealand has no Apple stores - all sales there ship by courier.

Online stock of the top tier iPhone 17 Pro next to Pro Max ran out fast and Apple now quotes October delivery for new online orders. Even so the company keeps units aside for people who queue at the door, a hint that other countries will see similar in store supply once their launch hours arrive.

After the Asia-Pacific wave, Apple flips the sign to “open” in Asia, the Middle East, Europe besides North America. Hundreds of stores will unlock their doors at 8:00 a.m. local time to hand out reserved units and to sell to walk ins. Chains like Target, Walmart or Best Buy also expect pallets of phones for shoppers who skipped the pre order step.
