Gamers looking to expand their controller options for the Nintendo Switch 2 now have a compact and affordable solution. GuliKit has released a small USB adapter, the Hyperlink Gen 2, that allows users to wirelessly connect controllers from other popular consoles, most notably Sony's PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
Dongles, often seen as an unnecessary expense, can be a gamer's best friend when it comes to compatibility. The GuliKit Hyperlink Gen 2 USB-A adapter, priced at $16.99, offers a way to use controllers you already own with your Switch 2, saving you the cost of purchasing new ones. This adapter is also compatible with PCs, Steam Decks, and Android devices.
While the GuliKit adapter supports essential features like rumble and motion controls, it doesn't offer some conveniences found in other solutions. Notably, it cannot wake the console remotely, requiring manual power-on before pairing. Additionally, wireless audio through the controller's headphone jack is not supported. Users can only connect one controller per dongle.
Compared to the 8BitDo USB Adapter 2, the GuliKit dongle is smaller and more budget-friendly. However, 8BitDo's adapter boasts broader controller compatibility, extending back to older console generations, and offers advanced customization options through its Ultimate Software. GuliKit has stated plans to release similar customization apps for Android and iOS in Q2 2026.
In terms of haptic feedback, the GuliKit Hyperlink Gen 2 adapter provides a rumble experience that some users find comparable to the Switch's HD rumble. However, rumble quality can vary significantly between games and controllers, with some titles not benefiting as much as others.
GuliKit highlights the adapter's PC-exclusive low-latency wireless connection, which aims to improve input responsiveness. While the impact might not be dramatic for all users, the overall ease of setup and connection is a notable advantage.
