Supergiant Games has disclosed the full size of the story content in their much awaited roguelike, Hades 2. The sequel holds a script that exceeds 400,000 words and more than 30,000 spoken lines. That amount is about half again as large as the first game.
Creative director Greg Kasavin supplied those numbers and stressed that the game keeps a dense involving plot that matches its endless roguelike structure. “Hades 2, like the first game, allows endless play - I see why people want even more story,” Kasavin said.
The loop based design of roguelikes shapes the plot of both Hades titles. Players meet the Greek pantheon again and again - the gods recall earlier attempts and still deliver fresh lines and observations after many runs. To keep this alive, Supergiant Games has put major effort into writing and voice work.
Kasavin added that the script “covers every key point we wanted for every member of the cast.” He suggested that players who stopped after the epilogue may still have unheard lines for Heracles, Prometheus or remarks about them from the rest of the cast. This invites continued play long after the central plot ends.
Hades 2 has already drawn wide acclaim and stands among the best games of 2025. It is on sale now for PC besides Nintendo Switch - a physical edition is also on offer.
