The early access period for EA's new version of Skate has drawn what the developer, Full Circle, calls “tens of millions” of players. That large number exposed many bugs, performance drops and glitches that stop progress. To thank the players and to fix the problems, the studio will hand out free items and will change how the in game economy works.
Full Circle admits that the game “has not gone smoothly for some.” Every player will receive 2000 Tix and 500 SVB as a thank you gift. Players must log in before Season 2 ends on December 2 to collect the items. The studio now treats the “softlock” bugs that stop progress as the most urgent task for the team.
This reply matters because the title is a live service product that is still in early access. The first player count surpassed expectations plus caused instability. By talking to players directly and - handing out compensation, Full Circle hopes to keep trust while it works on permanent fixes.
Season 2 arrives in December. The studio will rebuild the progression and reward systems. The skate.Pass will require less time to finish and will contain about 90 tiers. Players will obtain more of the premium currency, SVB, through the pass. Full Circle will also change how the free currency, Tix, moves from one season to the next. Tix that players buy with SVB will move over completely - only part of the Tix gained through gameplay will move over. This design pushes players to spend the currency they earn before a season closes - such rules keep a live service economy stable.
Those changes show that Full Circle intends to tune Skate according to player feedback. As the game heads toward its official 1.0 release, a system that feels fun, fair but also sustainable will decide whether the title lasts.
