Players on console often complain that Battlefield 6's aim assist hurts more than it helps. After a flood of complaints, the development team confirms that a long requested fix is coming.
Console and controller design lead Matthew Nickerson posts on Twitter that the aim assist will become weaker. The patch cuts the sticky “magnet” effect that drags crosshairs across the screen and keeps them glued to a target after the player moves the stick. From now on the crosshair slows by the same small amount whenever it passes over an enemy, with no sudden ramp or extra tug.
This answer follows weeks of reports. Players say they must yank the stick against the assist to hit anything. In fights with two or more enemies, the sticky lock jumps to the wrong body plus leaves the player exposed. One user writes that the mechanic “straight up kills you if there are multiple enemies on screen.”
The response is largely positive. FPS streamer Huskerrs says controller aiming should feel far easier. Many other players share his hope that the fix will let them point the gun where they intend without surprise tugs.
No exact date is given, but the patch is expected soon. Nickerson also states that the 25 percent recoil reduction granted to controllers stays in place for now, although that setting will face future review. Those tweaks form part of a rolling program that uses player feedback to polish the core shooting loop.
