A recent rating from the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) has surfaced for Diablo 4 on the Nintendo Switch. This development suggests that Blizzard's acclaimed action RPG could be making its way to a handheld platform, mirroring the successful release of Diablo 3 on the Switch.
The rating, which is publicly accessible, lists the Nintendo Switch alongside other platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC for Diablo 4. While not an official confirmation from Blizzard, this marks a significant indication of a potential port.
Diablo has a history with Nintendo consoles. Diablo 3: Eternal Collection launched on the Nintendo Switch in 2018 to critical and commercial success. More recently, Diablo 2 Resurrected, the HD remaster of the classic ARPG, was released simultaneously on the Switch and other major platforms in 2021.
Given this precedent, a Switch version of Diablo 4 would not be entirely unexpected. However, the rating specifically citing the original Nintendo Switch, rather than the newer Switch 2, is a curious detail, as the IGRS often differentiates between the two consoles.
This potential Switch release coincides with the upcoming "Lord of Hatred" expansion for Diablo 4, scheduled for release on April 28. This expansion will introduce the new Paladin class, which is already available to those who pre-order the expansion. Additionally, the Warlock class, which debuted in Diablo 2 Resurrected, will finally arrive in Diablo 4 with this update. The expansion also promises a new questline, endgame activities, and various gameplay enhancements.
