The popular cooperative board game series "Horrified" is venturing into the gothic horror of Dungeons & Dragons' Ravenloft setting with its latest installment, "Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft." This new game challenges players to band together against iconic D&D villains, offering a fresh cooperative experience for fans of both franchises.
"Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft" immerses players in the dread-filled Domains of Dread, tasking them with confronting four distinct monsters. Alongside the legendary vampire Count Strahd Von Zarovich, players will face the Carrionette, a murderous living doll; Baba Lysaga and her walking hut; and the malevolent Gulthias Tree. Each monster presents unique challenges and requires specific strategies to defeat, while players must also protect innocent bystanders scattered across the board.
Building on the success of its predecessor, "Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft" introduces five new character classes: the Ranger, Druid, Sorcerer, Paladin, and Warlock. Similar to the previous game, these classes feature abilities that are activated by rolling a d20, adding an element of chance and strategic depth to each player's turn. The game allows for monster mixing and matching with previous "Horrified" titles, offering extensive replayability.
The game is designed by Peter Lee, a veteran designer with numerous D&D-based games to his name, including "Lords of Waterdeep" and the "Castle Ravenloft" board game. "Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft" is set to launch on July 19th, with pre-orders opening soon through Target. The game will retail for $29.99.
This release aligns with Dungeons & Dragons' "Season of Horror," which celebrates the Ravenloft setting, following the recent reveal of "Ravenloft: The Horror Within." The collaboration between Ravensburger and Wizards of the Coast aims to bring the rich lore of Ravenloft into a narrative-driven, cooperative board game experience.
