Get ready for the return of a legend. Ram has officially announced the resurrection of its high-performance TRX pickup for the 2027 model year, set to arrive in summer 2026. This beastly truck is engineered to reclaim its title as the most powerful half-ton pickup on the market, boasting a staggering 777 horsepower from its supercharged V8 engine, directly challenging rivals like Ford's F-150 Raptor R.
The heart of the 2027 Ram SRT Hellcat TRX is an all-new iteration of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8. While based on the standard Hellcat engine, engineers have significantly boosted its output by optimizing induction flow by 18 percent and incorporating the valvetrain from higher-performance "red block" engines. This allows the TRX to rev higher, resulting in the impressive 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. This power surge eclipses its main competitor by a considerable margin, solidifying its position as the most potent street-legal gas half-ton truck available.
Ram claims the 2027 TRX can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.5 seconds, a notable improvement over its predecessor and a tenth of a second quicker than the 720-hp Ford F-150 Raptor R. The truck is equipped with a modified ZF 8HP95 eight-speed automatic transmission, now integrated with the new Atlantis electrical architecture for seamless communication with the truck's numerous electronic modules. Despite its immense power, the TRX is rated for an estimated 10 mpg city, 14 mpg highway, and 12 mpg combined, with an estimated range of 396 miles.
Building upon the foundation of previous TRX and RHO models, the 2027 TRX features refined Bilstein BlackHawk e2 Ram Active Terrain Dynamics shocks. These enhancements promise improved ride control and a more distinct differentiation between drive modes, reducing body float. The truck retains its robust off-road capabilities with 35-inch tires on available beadlock-capable wheels, 13 inches of front and 14 inches of rear wheel travel, and 11.8 inches of ground clearance. An enhanced urethane jounce bumper and three-stage progressive hydraulic "jounce cut-off" internals are included for managing rough landings, alongside an electronically locking differential and hydraulic axle-hop damper.
Visually, the new TRX sports a redesigned T-Rex head logo and a high-flow R-A-M grille badge. Flame Red tow hooks add a splash of color, and an optional Bloodshot Night Edition package offers a unique two-tone paint scheme with Flame Red accents and graphics. Inside, the special edition features a glass-encased TRX console badge and carbon fiber trim with red anodized threads. Luxury appointments include Natura Plus leather seats with perforated suede inserts, red stitching, and embroidered headrests, complemented by Ruby Red seatbelts. The interior also borrows premium elements from the Tungsten model, such as a suede headliner and visors.
The 2027 Ram SRT Hellcat TRX will have a starting price of $102,590, positioning it as a premium offering. Despite the high price tag, Ram highlights that it undercuts the 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor R by $10,935 while offering advanced features like Active Drive Assist hands-free cruise control. Deliveries for the highly anticipated 2027 Ram TRX are expected to commence in the summer of 2026.
