Japanese tuner Damd has unveiled its latest creation, the Armata, a striking reimagining of the five-door Suzuki Jimny. This unique build draws heavy inspiration from classic Lancia rally cars, giving the rugged Japanese SUV a distinct Italian flair. The Armata concept blends the Jimny's inherent off-road capabilities with retro styling cues, creating a vehicle that looks ready for both challenging terrain and a stylish city drive.
The Armata's transformation is most evident at the front, where Damd has fitted a Lancia-esque grille and quad round headlights. These elements, reminiscent of Damd's "Little D" kit for the three-door Jimny which evoked the Lancia Delta Integrale, have been adapted for a more rugged aesthetic on the Armata. The custom bumper sports a metal finish and an integrated skid plate, while the yellow fog lights have been repositioned higher for better protection.
Beyond the Lancia-inspired front fascia, the Armata boasts several off-road-focused modifications. Flared wheel arches add to its imposing stance, and a roof-mounted accessory bar with four amber LEDs enhances its utilitarian appeal. Truck-style mirrors further contribute to the vehicle's robust appearance. The Armata is equipped with OZ Racing alloy wheels, finished in a military-inspired style, and shod with aggressive off-road tires. While specific technical details are scarce, the vehicle's stance suggests a suspension lift, enhancing its off-road prowess.
Under the hood, the Armata is expected to retain the stock Suzuki Jimny's powertrain. This means the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 103 hp (77 kW / 105 PS), will likely power all four wheels. Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, coupled with a traditional part-time 4WD system.
Damd has indicated that the Armata is slated to become a complete tuning kit for the Jimny Nomad, with availability anticipated by 2026. In the interim, select components like the roof light bar and truck mirrors will be available for order at the Tokyo Auto Salon. This latest build expands Damd's impressive lineup of Jimny customization kits, which already includes the Defender-inspired "Little D" and Mercedes G-Class-styled "Little G.Advance" and "Little G.Traditional."
