Lancia, a brand once synonymous with motorsport dominance, is making a comeback, and its latest move isn't a new car, but a stylish limited-edition watch. This timepiece celebrates the revival of the iconic HF (High Fidelity) logo, signaling a renewed spirit for the Italian automaker. The watch, a collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Eberhard & Co., marks a significant moment as Lancia re-enters the rally world.
Lancia's journey from a motorsport powerhouse to a brand with a less distinct lineup has been well-documented. However, recent efforts, including the revival of the HF Integrale name and a new electric Ypsilon HF variant, signal a promising future. This new watch, a tangible link to its glorious past, is a strategic move to engage enthusiasts and celebrate the brand's heritage.
The Lancia HF-inspired watch is designed with understated elegance. It features a 41mm stainless steel case, a mere 10.45mm thick, housing a reliable Selita SW200-1 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, suitable for everyday wear and light splashes. The watch boasts a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and Superluminova-filled hands for enhanced visibility. The distinctive slanted HF logo is a prominent design element, complemented by subtle red accents on the seconds hand. Buyers can choose from three sunburst-finished dial colors: blue, white, or black. Each dial variant is limited to 120 pieces, contributing to the total production run of 360 units.
Eberhard & Co., a brand with over 135 years of history, partnered with Lancia for this special edition. The watch is available with either a vintage-style leather strap featuring red stitching or a stainless-steel bracelet. Each timepiece is individually numbered on the case back, alongside the Lancia logo. Sales have recently commenced through select authorized Eberhard & Co. retailers. The price for this piece of Lancia history starts at €1,980, which converts to approximately $2,320 USD at current exchange rates.
This watch launch coincides with Lancia's broader strategy to revitalize its brand. Earlier this year, the company reintroduced the HF badge on a new electric Ypsilon model. This performance variant boasts 276 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds. While not directly comparable to the legendary Delta HF Integrale, it represents a significant step towards Lancia's ambitious future, blending performance with electrification.
