The 2026 Mazda CX-5 introduces Google Built-In and Gemini AI, designed to keep drivers focused and reduce distraction. This system allows hands-free control of key functions—like climate and audio—using natural speech. Gemini AI can answer questions about the vehicle or give navigation suggestions, initiated by the prompt "Hey, Google." Integration with Google services enables drivers to seamlessly transfer directions and information from their phones or home computers to the CX-5.
All trims feature a 10.25-inch digital cluster behind the steering wheel, showing detailed images of surrounding vehicles and key driving data. The optional head-up display is now 122% larger than before, enabling real-time display of speed, road signs, and navigation cues. The new touchscreen infotainment system comes in either 12.9-inch or 15.6-inch versions, both unique for this class. By anchoring screen placement consistent across sizes, Mazda aims for intuitive usage without extra hand movement. Crucially, physical knobs and tactile steering-wheel buttons remain for critical functions, maintaining a balance of digital and tangible controls.
Touchscreens and voice assistants are becoming standard in new vehicles. The CX-5 differentiates itself by blending these with physical controls, aiming for both modern tech and user familiarity. Few rivals in its segment offer such large, segment-exclusive touchscreens or deeply integrated Google services. Mazda continues to target premium mainstream buyers by providing advanced features usually reserved for luxury models, emphasizing usability and seamless connectivity.
The 2026 CX-5 strengthens Mazda’s driver-first identity by thoughtfully integrating technology without sacrificing traditional comfort and control.
