Zeekr, a Chinese automaker, now supplies a wide ranging hardware update for two of its older cars, the 2024 Zeekr 001 and 009 electric vehicles. The update focuses on the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. It swaps in a new Nvidia-based architecture that raises computing power. The job replaces close to 60 separate parts including the windshield plus front bumper and renews internal electronics. Skilled technicians need more than 20 hours to finish the work.
The key change replaces the Mobileye EyeQ5H setup with Zeekr's own G-Pilot H7 system, which rests on the Nvidia Drive Thor-U architecture. The G-Pilot H7 reaches 700 Trillion Operations Per Second, a sharp rise from the earlier 48 TOPS. The extra power supports more capable and dependable driver assistance functions, which increase safety but also convenience on the road.
Zeekr offers the hardware update for recent cars - yet Tesla has not released a similar plan for owners who still have Hardware 3.0. Tesla's newest cars carry Hardware 4.0, which enables more advanced functions, but the firm has not stated when or how it will retrofit older vehicles. Zeekr has opened a crowdfunding support model and gives owners large vouchers. By contrast, confronts technical hurdles because the physical connectors as well as cooling needs differ between its hardware generations.
Zeekr's action answers owner worries about fast hardware changes or falling resale value. It creates a fresh benchmark for after sales support and open technology policy. More than 70,000 vehicles qualify for the program - Zeekr spends heavily on customer satisfaction also speeds the shift toward upgrade ready vehicle technology. The step separates Zeekr from rivals in the crowded EV field and assures owners that the technology in their cars will stay current for a longer period.
