The Audi Q5 and the sportier SQ5 enter their third generation with a fresh shape, a new base frame and large tech changes. The key facts follow, stated plainly.
Both SUVs ride with calm steadiness. The suspension erases potholes plus rough patches - the cabin stays level. Wind noise stays outside - one tester ranked the cabin among the quietest in the group.
The standard Q5 holds a 268-hp 2.0-litre turbo four that testers called adequate. The SQ5 carries a 362-hp turbo V-6; it gives the SUV a Porsche-like poise. Each engine links to a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox and to Quattro all wheel drive.
Several arose. Judges disliked the piano black trim, the cluster of screens but also the touch sensitive sliders. The steering wheel hides part of the lower screen. Entry and exit feel tight for some frames and the voice assistant bungled a simple request for a sandwich shop.
Many shoppers will find the pair quiet, cushioned as well as able for daily use. In MotorTrend's 2026 SUV of the Year contest, neither progressed to the finals. The Q5's value weakens at the $63,290 Prestige level. The SQ5 performs well yet misses a clear edge over rivals. Both SUVs are competent but play the contest too safe.
