It was a development prototype for a large, three-row electric SUV designed to carry seven passengers. The project was officially canceled by Ford in 2024, but images of the vehicle were recently shared by a company executive. It was intended to be a major player in the family EV market.

What did the vehicle look like?

The design was focused on aerodynamics, earning it the nickname of a "bullet train." It featured a rounded front end, a steeply raked windshield that flowed into a long, sloping roof, and a nearly vertical rear. The bodywork was streamlined, and it included minimalist door handles and aerodynamically designed wheels to maximize efficiency. Its appearance is distinct and does not resemble other vehicles in the current Ford lineup.

What were its planned performance capabilities?

The SUV was engineered to have a driving range of more than 350 miles (563 km) on a full charge. Its charging system was also advanced, with the ability to add up to 100 miles of range in just six minutes using a DC fast charger. Plans also existed for a range-extended version, which would have pushed the total travel distance to a potential 550 miles (885 km).

Why did Ford cancel this project?

Ford canceled the three-row EV as part of a larger shift in its electric vehicle strategy. The company has decided to dial back its more ambitious EV plans and pivot towards producing a range of more affordable electric vehicles. This new focus includes the development of models like a $30,000 electric pickup truck.
