Nissan is set to unveil two intriguing concept vehicles at the upcoming Auto China event, signaling a significant step in its electrification and intelligent vehicle strategy. Among the previews is a rugged, high-riding off-roader that bears a striking resemblance to the upcoming Xterra, alongside a more conventional electric crossover.
Nissan has offered a tantalizing peek at two upcoming concepts destined for Auto China. The automaker described these vehicles as "another important milestone in Nissan’s transformation towards electrification and intelligentization." While details are scarce, the teasers reveal distinct design directions for the brand.
The most eye-catching of the two concepts is a formidable off-roader. Although the image quality is limited, the vehicle boasts slender headlights, a prominent front light bar with illuminated "Nissan" lettering, and five glowing rectangular elements. A rugged front bumper, auxiliary lights mounted on the hood, substantial off-road tires, and impressive ground clearance underscore its adventurous intent. An illuminated roof rack and fender flare marker lights further enhance its rugged aesthetic. This concept strongly echoes the forthcoming Xterra, but its fully enclosed grille suggests it might be a fully electric model, differentiating it from the V6 and hybrid V6 powertrains planned for the production Xterra arriving in late 2028.
The second concept is more enigmatic, appearing to be a conventional electric crossover. Its design features lighting units reminiscent of the recently redesigned Leaf. A subtle "shark nose" front end is hinted at, though not definitively clear. The vehicle also showcases a gently sloping roofline and a spoiler integrated into the liftgate, suggesting a blend of practicality and modern styling.
Both concepts are expected to generate significant interest at Auto China, offering a preview of Nissan's future product strategy, particularly in the burgeoning electric vehicle market and its commitment to diverse vehicle segments.
