Prepare for a new level of Porsche performance as SSR Performance unveils "Project Leo," a heavily modified 911 GT3 RS that boasts twin-turbochargers and an astonishing 800 horsepower. This bespoke creation is not merely a tuning job but a "complete, clean-sheet vehicle development" aimed at pushing the boundaries of what the iconic 911 platform can achieve, potentially even rivaling Porsche's own forthcoming GT2 RS.
While Porsche is rumored to be developing its own potent 911 GT2 RS for the 992.2 generation, SSR Performance is forging ahead with its own interpretation of extreme performance. Drawing inspiration from the track-focused GT3 RS, Project Leo takes the existing chassis and significantly enhances its powertrain. The most striking modification is the addition of twin turbochargers to the naturally aspirated flat-six engine, a departure from the GT3 RS's standard setup. This forced induction system is expected to propel the car to an impressive 800 horsepower.
SSR Performance has made its intentions clear: Project Leo is engineered for the track. The company has openly stated its ambition to achieve a sub-7-minute lap time around the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. This aggressive performance target underscores the car's track-honed capabilities. Visually, the Project Leo retains some familiar GT3 RS elements, including a prominent rear wing and aerodynamic elements reminiscent of those offered by Manthey Racing, another Porsche tuning specialist.
In an era where electrification is becoming increasingly prevalent, SSR Performance is emphasizing a purist approach with Project Leo. The company has highlighted that the vehicle will not feature any form of hybridization or even particulate filters. This commitment to an unfiltered engine experience ensures maximum performance and a raw, engaging driving sensation, positioning Project Leo as a compelling alternative for enthusiasts seeking traditional internal combustion power.
