Ford has announced a special package to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its full-size SUV, the Expedition. The 2027 Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package adds a series of unique cosmetic enhancements to the vehicle, building upon the existing stealth appearance option.
The most notable feature of the anniversary package is the exclusive Blue Ember metallic tri-coat exterior paint. This color is typically reserved for the high-performance Mustang Dark Horse model and changes its appearance depending on the lighting. The package also includes 22-inch gloss black wheels with "Expedition 30 Years" center caps and a corresponding "30 Years" badge on the liftgate.
These additions complement the features of the stealth appearance package, which provides black headlight bezels, black "Expedition" lettering on the hood, and other blacked-out trim pieces. Inside, the special edition deviates from the standard black leather, offering "salt crystal gray" seats with black accents and contrast stitching. Anniversary badging is also present on the door sill plates and the center console lid.
Under the hood, the anniversary model is equipped with Ford's standard 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. The "EcoBoost" technology uses a turbocharger—a device that forces more air into the engine—to generate more power from a smaller engine displacement, which can improve fuel efficiency compared to a larger, non-turbocharged engine. This V6 produces 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.
Ford also offers a high-output version of this engine that develops 440 horsepower. However, it has not been confirmed if this more powerful option will be available in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary package.
The Ford Expedition was first launched in 1997 as a direct competitor to the established Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. Since then, Ford has sold nearly three million units. In the last year, sales increased by 10.1% to 85,921 units in the United States. Despite this growth, the Expedition still trails the combined sales of the Tahoe and Suburban, which reached 172,885 units.
Official pricing for the 30th Anniversary package has not been released. The package is based on the Platinum trim, which starts at $74,250, and requires the $3,575 stealth appearance package. This suggests the final price for the 2027 Expedition 30th Anniversary Edition will likely exceed $80,000 before destination fees.
