The Skoda Peaq is the brand's forthcoming all-electric, seven-seat SUV, designed to be its largest and most premium vehicle to date. Measuring 4.9 meters in length, it functions as the electric equivalent to the successful Kodiaq. In the expanding market for large electric family haulers, the Peaq is strategically positioned as a value-oriented alternative to premium rivals such as the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90. It aims to provide comparable space and functionality at a more competitive price point, consistent with Skoda's brand philosophy.
The Peaq is constructed on the Volkswagen Group's modular electric drive matrix (MEB), a dedicated platform for electric vehicles. The flagship version will be equipped with an 86-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery—the unit that stores the car's electrical energy—paired with a single 282-horsepower motor driving the rear axle. This setup is projected to achieve a driving range exceeding 380 miles on a single charge. For those requiring all-weather traction, a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive model will produce 295 horsepower. An entry-level variant will use a smaller 59 kWh battery and a 201-horsepower motor. The larger battery can accept charging speeds up to 195 kilowatts (kW), enabling rapid replenishment of range at high-power charging stations.
The exterior styling of the Peaq is heavily influenced by the Vision 7S concept car, marking the debut of Skoda's 'Modern Solid' design language. This new aesthetic is characterized by bold T-shaped light clusters and a distinctive textured front panel, dubbed the 'Tech Deck', which replaces a traditional grille. The vehicle's most significant practical asset is its substantial size, which allows for a three-row, seven-seat interior configuration. This focus on space and passenger capacity makes it a strong contender for families seeking a versatile and purely electric vehicle.
The estimated pricing for the Skoda Peaq is set to fall between £50,000 and £60,000 in the UK market. This places it in direct competition with high-specification trims of the internal combustion Kodiaq, while significantly undercutting the starting prices of other large electric SUVs. The official public unveiling is scheduled for the summer, with sales expected to commence shortly thereafter. Industry sources also indicate a strong likelihood of a high-performance vRS version joining the lineup in the near future.
