Lotus is reviving the evocative "Scura" nameplate for a special, limited-edition version of its Emira sports car. This new model pays tribute to the stealthy, track-focused 2009 Exige Scura, offering a darker, more aggressive aesthetic and enhanced performance for a select group of enthusiasts.
The original Lotus Exige Scura, unveiled in 2009, was a rare beast, with only 35 examples produced. It was characterized by its matte black paint, lightweight construction, and a potent supercharged engine derived from the Exige Cup car. Now, Lotus is bringing back the Scura moniker for the 2026 Emira, aiming to capture the spirit of that original, stealthy machine.
This special edition Emira comes equipped with the Driver's Pack as standard. This includes the more aggressive Sport suspension setup and high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Based on previous Emira testing, this configuration is expected to deliver exhilarating acceleration, achieving 0-60 mph in approximately 4.2 seconds, with impressive lateral grip and a quick figure-eight lap time.
Paint is a defining characteristic of any Scura, and the 2026 Emira continues this tradition with a sophisticated Satin Nebulous Grey finish, a modern interpretation of the original matte black. While the original had a gloss-black stripe, the new Scura features gloss black accents on the roof, mirror caps, and other exterior trim elements. Complementing this are gloss-black 20-inch V-spoke forged wheels that reveal vibrant red brake calipers. Special "Scura" badging further distinguishes this exclusive model.
The cabin of the Emira Scura mirrors its exterior's dark theme with a touch of sporty flair. The seats are upholstered in Alcantara and feature red contrast stitching, a theme echoed by the red seat belts. The steering wheel also sports red stitching and a red marker at the 12 o'clock position. "Scura" badging is present inside, reinforcing the car's special status. Privacy glass enhances the stealthy aesthetic, while a premium KEF 10-speaker audio system ensures an immersive in-car experience.
Production of the 2026 Lotus Emira Scura is set to commence shortly, with pricing details to be announced by Lotus at a later date.
