Cupra is rolling out an updated Tavascan, enhancing its electric crossover with significant interior tech upgrades and a new, more accessible entry-level model. Set to launch this summer, the refreshed Tavascan promises a more intuitive user experience and improved efficiency, alongside a new paint option and advanced audio system.
The updated Tavascan lineup welcomes a new entry-level trim. This model is equipped with a 58 kWh battery pack and an electric motor producing 188 hp (140 kW). Cupra anticipates this variant will offer an "engaging driving experience" with a range of around 270 miles (435 km). While pricing details are yet to be released, this new option is expected to be more affordable than the existing Endurance and VZ trims, which utilize a larger 77 kWh battery and offer higher power outputs of 282 hp and 335 hp, respectively.
Inside, the Tavascan receives a significant tech overhaul. It now boasts a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a new infotainment system powered by Android OS. This upgrade aims to provide a more intuitive user interface and access to a wider array of applications. Notably, Cupra has reintroduced physical buttons on a new steering wheel, though touch sliders remain.
A standout feature is the introduction of "smart" electric air vents. These vents can activate before the driver even enters the cabin, detecting the approaching key fob to pre-circulate air. Once occupants are inside, the vents intelligently adjust their direction based on seating positions and sunlight. Voice commands offer an additional layer of convenience for climate control adjustments.
For the Endurance and VZ trims, a new Launch Control function has been added. All Tavascan models will also benefit from a new one-pedal driving mode, which engages regenerative braking automatically when the accelerator is released, enhancing efficiency and driver control.
Further convenience comes in the form of digital key technology, allowing owners to unlock, start, and share vehicle access via their smartphone. One primary digital key is reserved for the owner, with four additional keys available for sharing.
Audiophiles will appreciate the new premium audio system featuring Sennheiser Contrabass technology. This system employs psychoacoustic techniques to deliver deep, impactful low-end frequencies, creating a rich and immersive soundscape.
On the exterior, the most notable addition is the new Dark Void paint job, a deep purple hue designed to accentuate the Tavascan's sculpted design and progressive identity. Additionally, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function is now available via a dedicated adapter, enabling the crossover to serve as a substantial mobile power source.
