The highly anticipated 2026 Lexus ES electric vehicle has officially arrived, hitting dealerships with an impressive EPA-rated range of 307 miles. Notably, the EV variant is launching before its hybrid counterpart and comes with a starting price that undercuts the hybrid model, signaling a significant step towards price parity in the EV market.
The 2026 Lexus ES marks a significant moment for Toyota's luxury brand, as the electric version is now available for purchase. The ES 350e Premium, the front-wheel-drive model, starts at an attractive $48,795, including destination fees. This positions the electric sedan as a more affordable option than the upcoming hybrid version, which will retail for $50,995.
The ES 350e is equipped with a 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, delivering an EPA-estimated 307 miles of range. For those seeking all-wheel-drive capability, the ES 500e offers a range of up to 276 miles. While not setting new benchmarks, these figures are competitive within the segment. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, with a 10% to 80% charge taking around 28 minutes at a peak charging rate of 150 kilowatts, indicating a robust charging curve.
Lexus's move with the ES EV comes as Toyota, after years of cautious exploration into electric vehicles, is accelerating its EV strategy. The automaker plans to introduce several new electric models across both the Toyota and Lexus brands in the U.S. market this year. This launch signifies a commitment to expanding its EV offerings, even as other manufacturers reassess their electric vehicle plans.
