Volkswagen has offered the first glimpse of the redesigned 2027 Atlas interior, revealing a significantly modernized and more premium cabin. The updated three-row SUV is set to debut next month and appears to borrow heavily from the high-tech features found in the Chinese market's Teramont Pro.
The teaser image showcases a dashboard that has been "completely redesigned," promising a more modern and premium feel. A key highlight is the apparent inclusion of a new front passenger display, an 11.6-inch screen that will offer new functionality. The interior also features a surround with wood trim, ambient lighting with 30 color options, and illuminated door panels. Premium audio system speaker grilles are visible at the base of the A-pillar, suggesting an enhanced sound experience.
It's evident that the 2027 Atlas interior will closely mirror that of the Teramont Pro sold in China, with minor differences noted in the door panel design. This suggests the North American Atlas could adopt a similar high-tech setup, potentially including a digital instrument cluster, a large 15-inch infotainment system, and the aforementioned 11.6-inch passenger screen. Features like augmented reality navigation and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, found in the Teramont Pro, might also make their way to the Atlas. While the Teramont Pro offers a fragrance system, its inclusion in the Atlas remains uncertain.
While the wheelbase and roofline are expected to remain similar to the current model, the 2027 Atlas will transition to the newer MQB Evo platform. Under the hood, it will likely feature the new EA888 evo5 engine. In the Teramont Pro, this engine produces up to 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Tiguan shares the same horsepower rating but has a lower torque output. The interior enhancements also extend to comfort features, with expectations of heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, along with a heated second row.
