Geely has unveiled its latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Galaxy M7 SUV, which is making waves with an exceptionally long claimed driving range. This new model builds on Geely's growing expertise in efficient hybrid powertrains, promising impressive fuel economy and a luxurious interior experience.

Key Takeaways

Unprecedented Driving Range

The Galaxy M7 is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, coupled with a 29.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and a 110 hp (82 kW) electric motor. Geely claims this powertrain allows the SUV to travel up to 140 miles (225 km) on electric power alone. When the internal combustion engine is engaged, the combined range extends to a remarkable 1,074 miles (1,730 km). Furthermore, when the battery is fully depleted, the engine is reported to consume just 3.35 liters per 100 kilometers, translating to approximately 70 US miles per gallon.

Upscale Interior Appointments

Moving beyond its impressive range, the Galaxy M7's cabin aims to differentiate itself in a crowded market. Geely has incorporated distinctive elements such as two small crystal switches and a large crystal rotary dial on the center console. This dial can be customized to control various functions, including climate settings. The interior is further enhanced by metallic accents found on the air vents, window switches, steering wheel, and turn signal stalks, adding a touch of sophistication.

Familiar Yet Refined Design

The overall interior design echoes Geely's established aesthetic, which is generally well-received. Notable features include a large panoramic glass roof, a substantial central infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, and a 50-watt wireless smartphone charging pad. The vehicle also comes equipped with Geely's in-house 23-speaker Flyme Sound system and configurable ambient lighting. Externally, the Galaxy M7 presents a pleasing, broadly appealing design with LED headlights, an angular shoulder line, squared-off wheel arches, and distinctive drooping taillights.
