Lamborghini is reportedly considering a successor to its wildly successful Sterrato, the rally-inspired supercar that defied expectations. The Italian marque's CEO, Stefan Winkelmann, has hinted that the concept, which proved popular with buyers and expanded the Huracan's appeal, could make a comeback.
When Lamborghini unveiled the Sterrato in 2023, its concept of a lifted supercar with enhanced off-road capabilities was met with surprise. However, the unique proposition resonated strongly with consumers, allowing it to carve out a distinct niche in the market, similar to the Porsche 911 Dakar.
Stefan Winkelmann acknowledged the Sterrato's global success and stated that while a direct follow-up isn't currently in the immediate plans, he would "never say never" to the idea. He emphasized that the company's current focus is on developing standard coupe, convertible, and more performance-oriented variants of its supercars.
Given that the Temerario is still relatively new, any potential Sterrato-style variant would likely be several years away. In the near term, Lamborghini is expected to introduce a Spyder version of the Temerario, featuring the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 hybrid powertrain that produces 907 horsepower. Following this, a lighter and more powerful iteration, potentially producing around 950 horsepower, is anticipated, drawing parallels to the Huracan Performante or STO models.
