A rare 1960s Jeep Super Wagoneer, a precursor to modern luxury SUVs, has been dramatically transformed by Vigilante into a powerful off-road machine. This restomod project seamlessly blends iconic vintage aesthetics with cutting-edge performance, creating a unique vehicle that honors its heritage while embracing modern engineering.
The Jeep Super Wagoneer, a lesser-known model from the 1960s, played a crucial role in establishing the luxury SUV segment. Vigilante has taken one of these classic vehicles and infused it with modern technology, preserving its distinctive exterior while significantly upgrading its performance and functionality.
The heart of this revitalized Super Wagoneer is a modern 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, delivering an impressive 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. This power is managed through a robust Tremec six-speed manual transmission, offering an engaging driving experience. To complement the increased power, Vigilante has installed a custom four-wheel-drive system and high-performance Baer brakes, ensuring superior control and stopping power.
The engine bay itself is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, featuring a clean layout free of visible wires and hoses, and a chrome radiator for efficient cooling.
The exterior of the Super Wagoneer is finished in a striking "Flamboyant Blue" and accented with chrome details. The vehicle's stance has been elevated with an aftermarket suspension lift kit, paired with rugged all-terrain tires mounted on new wheels, enhancing its off-road prowess.
Inside, the classic charm is maintained while incorporating modern conveniences. Upgrades include a contemporary climate control system and a Bluetooth-enabled audio system. Blue accents throughout the interior complement the vibrant exterior paint, creating a cohesive and stylish cabin.
Vigilante founder Daniel van Doveren stated, "This Super Wagoneer project embodies everything Vigilante stands for. It’s a celebration of automotive heritage, but it’s also a bold statement about what classic vehicles can become when you apply modern engineering and craftsmanship. We did not simply restore this Jeep. We reengineered it to deliver an entirely new driving experience while preserving what made it iconic in the first place."
