Chevrolet has announced a special edition model, the 2026 Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition, to commemorate the brand's entry into the famed Australian endurance race. Production will be strictly limited to 12 vehicles, available exclusively for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
This move marks a significant moment in Corvette's 70-year motorsports history, as the Z06 GT3.R race car prepares to compete at the challenging Mount Panorama Circuit for the first time. The special edition production model serves as a tribute to this new chapter.
The Bathurst Edition is built upon the Corvette Z06 3LZ Coupe foundation and includes the Z07 Performance Package. This package equips the car with track-focused enhancements, including improved aerodynamics, suspension tuning, and high-performance brakes. The vehicle's exterior is finished in Switchblade Silver, with Carbon Flash accents on the mirrors, badges, and aerodynamic components.
Key parts such as the ground effects and rear wing are constructed from carbon fiber, a material known for being both lightweight and extremely strong, which is commonly used in professional motorsports to enhance performance. The car also features the “Jake” C8.R graphics package and an exclusive decal outlining the Mount Panorama circuit. It is fitted with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminum wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, which are designed for maximum road grip.
Inside, the cabin features Competition Seats upholstered in Jet Black and Santorini Blue Napa leather. These seats are designed with larger side bolsters to provide support for the driver and passenger during high-speed cornering. The interior trim utilizes carbon-fiber and Stealth trim pieces to continue the performance theme.
To signify its rarity, each of the 12 cars will feature a special build plate on the inner door jamb, individually numbered from 1 to 12. The purchase also includes a custom car cover printed with a Corvette GT3.R design and other exclusive merchandise.
This vehicle is positioned as a collector's item rather than a direct competitor to other sports cars. Its creation follows a trend where manufacturers produce limited-run models to celebrate significant motorsport achievements. The Bathurst 12 Hour race is a globally recognized event, and the Mount Panorama track is notorious for its steep elevation changes and unforgiving walls, making it a true test of car and driver.
The 2026 Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition is a direct celebration of the brand's commitment to global GT racing. While official pricing and delivery dates have not been released, the extreme scarcity of the model suggests that all 12 units are likely already allocated to collectors.
