The facelifted Skoda Kushaq enters the Indian compact SUV market with a focus on upgraded comfort and technology. It retains its 4.2-meter length and rides on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Two turbocharged petrol engines remain on offer: the 1.0 TSI produces 113 hp, while the 1.5 TSI delivers 148 hp. The Kushaq is available in front-wheel-drive configuration only. For transmissions, the 1.0 TSI now features an eight-speed automatic, a step up from the previous six-speed, while the 1.5 TSI continues with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Four-wheel disc brakes are now standard for the 1.5 TSI.
Inside, the upgrade focuses on both technology and comfort. The top variants introduce rear massaging seats—a first in this segment. Higher trims also gain a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an improved 10.1-inch infotainment system running Google’s Gemini AI. The panoramic sunroof is now larger, addressing the preferences of many buyers.
Skoda has refreshed the Kushaq’s exterior with modern styling cues. Up front, the compact SUV features slimmer headlights with updated graphics and an illuminated grille trim. The bumper’s design incorporates a larger air intake and greater ground clearance visual cues. Alloy wheels have been redesigned, and the rear now boasts full-width LED taillights with illuminated SKODA lettering. The Monte Carlo variant offers sportier accents for customers seeking a distinctive look.
Practicality remains a highlight. The Kushaq offers a spacious interior fit for five, with features such as rear AC vents and numerous storage spaces. Luggage capacity and legroom are comparable to rivals. The addition of rear massaging seats sets a new benchmark in passenger comfort for this price point.
The compact SUV competes directly with models like the VW Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate. With prices expected to range slightly above ₹10.66–₹18.49 lakh, the Kushaq positions itself at the premium end of the mainstream segment. The focus on luxury features addresses a trend in emerging markets, where customers increasingly demand comfort elements once reserved for higher-end vehicles.
Its unique selling point is the rear massaging seat function, currently unavailable in direct competitors. Other enhancements like the panoramic sunroof and large digital displays reflect ongoing industry shifts towards more tech-integrated, comfort-oriented vehicles at accessible prices.
Eight-Speed Automatic Transmission: The updated gearbox in the 1.0 TSI allows the engine to run at lower speeds during cruising, making gear changes smoother and improving fuel efficiency.
Digital Cluster and Infotainment: The digital cluster replaces traditional gauges with a clear digital display for speed, fuel, and vehicle settings. The infotainment system with Google Gemini AI enables smarter voice commands, navigation, and music control.
Rear Massaging Seats: These seats include built-in motors that gently move and vibrate to provide occupants with a relaxing experience during travel, a feature more often found in luxury vehicles.
In summary, the facelifted Skoda Kushaq combines modern technology and enhanced comfort features—most notably, segment-first massaging rear seats—to appeal to Indian SUV buyers looking for value and refinement in a competitive market.
