Toyota has launched its most powerful Land Cruiser yet, the 300 Hybrid, in select Eastern European markets. This marks a significant milestone for the iconic off-roader, bringing electrified performance and updated technology to a wider audience. The hybrid model distinguishes itself with increased power, improved acceleration, and maintained off-road capabilities.
The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is powered by a combination of a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine and a single electric motor. Together, they generate 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. The hybrid setup includes a 10-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to all four wheels.
The electric motor not only increases acceleration by up to 40% compared to the previous 3.3-liter diesel version but also allows for pure electric driving at speeds up to 30 km/h, thanks to the energy stored in a nickel-metal hydride battery. This battery is protected in a waterproof case, maintaining the Land Cruiser’s 700 mm wading depth suitable for challenging terrain.
Other highlights include electric power steering, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, Downhill Assist Control, and a Multi-Terrain Monitor. These systems support precise handling and comprehensive terrain management.
The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is available in three trims: VX, ZX, and GR Sport. All versions feature five seats and come equipped with high-grade features. Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, a power tailgate, full LED headlights, twin 12.3-inch screens, a 14-speaker JBL sound system, and four-zone air conditioning. Heated electric front seats and a 1500W AC outlet are also standard.
The ZX trim adds features such as Adaptive Variable Suspension, a five-mode drive selector, a head-up display, a kick-sensor tailgate, and a rear limited-slip differential. The GR Sport stands out with unique exterior styling and the advanced e-KDSS (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), enabling optimal wheel articulation off-road.
In Europe, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is positioned as a premium, rugged SUV, targeting markets where large, powerful SUVs remain popular. By offering only a five-seat configuration and omitting a third-row option, Toyota focuses on comfort and technology for its target buyers. Compared to models like the Lexus LX and the Land Cruiser 250, the 300 Hybrid brings a balance of luxury, advanced technology, and proven off-road capability.
Industry trends show a shift toward electrification in large SUVs, and Toyota’s move aligns with the growing demand for both environmental responsibility and robust performance. The hybrid system brings immediate torque delivery and more efficient fuel consumption.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid brings together high-level hybrid technology, increased power, and reliable off-road engineering. With its launch in select Eastern European countries, Toyota reinforces the model’s reputation as a versatile SUV ready for demanding conditions while meeting modern expectations for performance and efficiency.
