OnePlus has officially launched its latest tablet, the OnePlus Pad 4, in India. This new device boasts an impressively thin design, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and a large battery, aiming to build on the success of its predecessor. However, availability is currently limited to the Indian market, with no immediate plans announced for a US release.
The OnePlus Pad 4 sports a 13.2-inch display with a 7:5 aspect ratio, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 315 ppi clarity. It supports Dolby Vision and offers 12-bit color depth with up to 1,000 nits HBM brightness. Despite its large screen and substantial 13,380-mAh battery, the tablet measures a mere 5.94mm in thickness, making it thinner than a No. 2 pencil. However, it weighs 672 grams, surpassing the 13-inch iPad Pro in heft.
Under the hood, the Pad 4 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, touted as the fastest available for Android devices. OnePlus claims a 42% performance increase over the Pad 3, based on AnTuTu Benchmark testing. The large battery is rated for up to 20 hours of video playback, seven hours of gaming, and 54 days of standby time on a single charge. Recharging is swift, thanks to 80-watt fast charging support.
The tablet includes a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, complemented by eight speakers and dual microphones for an immersive audio experience. OnePlus has integrated several AI-powered tools, such as AI Writer, AI Translate, and AI Summary, to enhance productivity. Additionally, AI Painter can generate visuals from sketches and create charts, while AI Recorder transcribes and summarizes recordings, even converting handwriting to text.
The OnePlus Pad 4 is currently available in India in two color options: dune glow and sage mist. Pricing starts at approximately $630 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage configuration, and $685 for the 12GB RAM/512GB storage model.
Recent reports and rumors have cast a shadow over OnePlus's future market presence. Speculation suggests a potential merger between OnePlus and Realme, both sub-brands of OPPO, which could lead to shared product development and roadmaps. Furthermore, there are unconfirmed reports indicating that OnePlus might be scaling back or exiting markets in the US, UK, and EU to concentrate solely on India and China. Tech analysts note a series of departures that hint at a significant restructuring of OnePlus's European operations.
