When comparing the two initiatives, the AR glasses represent a long-term, strategic bet on the future of computing, while the foldable iPad is an exploration of a new form factor within an existing product category. The AR glasses project seems to have a clear, albeit distant, objective. The foldable iPad, however, faces internal uncertainty despite high-level interest.
